How to Enable HTTPS

At Twitter, our security team is always working to guide you toward a safer Twitter experience.

• If you enable Always use HTTPS in your Account Preferences, your browser will use SSL encryption any time you access twitter.com.
  • This improves the security of your account and better protects you from eavesdropping if you’re using Twitter over an unsecured Internet connection, such as a public WiFi network.
• Twitter will use HTTPS to protect your password when you log in, whether or not you’ve enabled Always use HTTPS.

How to Set up HTTPS Encryption

• Log in to your Twitter account
• Click the drop-down menu on the right hand side of your screen
• Click Settings to visit your Accounts Settings Page
• Scroll down and check the box next to Always use HTTPS
• Click Save to save your changes

• Your browser's URL bar will show an "https://" before twitter.com, and a green "Twitter, Inc." next to the URL.
• All traffic between you and Twitter will be more secure.

Why wouldn't I check Always use HTTPS?

• We encourage you to enable Always use HTTPS in your Settings.
• Some users may find Twitter over HTTPS slightly slower than plain old HTTP, especially if using an Internet connection that’s already slow. We're working to make Twitter just as fast on HTTPS as it is on HTTP.
• Sometimes, when you are accessing Twitter over HTTPS, opening the details pane to view an image or video will cause a browser warning about mixed content. We're working on reducing the number of these errors as well.

Mobile Twitter and Apps

• On the official Twitter for iPhone and iPad applications, your communications are always encrypted via HTTPS, regardless of whether you have checked Always use HTTPS.
• When you visit mobile.twitter.com from your browser, your communications will be encrypted only if you specifically log in via https://mobile.twitter.com/.
  • We’re working on sharing the HTTPS checkbox between twitter.com and mobile.twitter.com.
• When using third-party applications, on your phone or computer, the encryption of your communications is up to the application’s author. Please check with them to see if they use HTTPS for all connections.

I'm Having Trouble Confirming My Email

Email confirmation is an important security check that helps prevent other people from signing up for a Twitter account using your email address. If you need to confirm your email address, you'll see a yellow warning notice when you log in to twitter.com, like the one shown below. If you need a step-by-step tutorial on how to confirm your email address, check out this article: How Do I Confirm My Email Address?

Having trouble confirming your email?

1. If you have received the confirmation email, but aren't able to click the link, copy the full URL from the email and paste it into a new web browser window. Or click the "Resend confirmation" link on the yellow nag shown below. We'll resend you a new link you can try.

2. If you haven't received the confirmation email, please:

• Check the junk mail folder or spam filter in your email account.
• Make sure your email address is entered correctly.
• Try resending the email by logging in and clicking the Resend Confirmation Link. This link will be in the yellow banner at the top of twitter.com.
• If you have multiple email addresses, try using a different email with your Twitter account.

3. If you still aren't receiving the confirmation email:

• Try clicking the "Resend confirmation" link again after a couple of days. We send the emails immediately when you create your account, but it's possible that your email provider was temporarily blocking emails from us, or delivery was delayed.
• Use an email from a large domain. Delivery to these domains is more consistent. You can create a new email account with one of the major free email providers – we've found that emails from Twitter are nearly always delivered to these major webmail providers like gmail.com, yahoo.com, or hotmail.com.

• If you're still having trouble, contact our Support team for more help.

What happens if you don't confirm your email?

If you don't confirm your email address, you won't receive any email updates from Twitter (for instance, notifications when you have a new follower or when someone sends you a Direct Message). Additionally, you will have limited access to certain other features on Twitter until you have confirmed.

About Public and Protected Accounts

Public or protected?

When you sign up for Twitter, you have the option of keeping your account public (the default account setting) or protecting your account.

• Public accounts have profile pages that are visible to everyone.
• Protected accounts require manual approval of each and every person who may view that account's Tweets. Only approved followers can view Tweets made on a protected account.

Why Would I Protect My Account?

If the idea of strangers reading your Twitter updates makes you feel a little weird, try protecting your profile at first. You can always change your mind later. When you protect your account, the following restrictions are put in place:

• People will have to request to follow you and each follow request will need approval
• Your Profile and Tweets will only be visible to users you've approved, meaning that other users will not be able to retweet your Tweets
• Protected Profiles' Tweets will not appear in Twitter search
• @replies sent to people who aren't following you will not be seen
• You cannot share permanent links to your Tweets with anyone other than your approved followers

How Do I Protect My Account?

You can protect your profile in your account settings page, following these steps:

1. Log in to your Twitter account
2. Visit your Account Settings Page by selecting Settings from the drop-down menu on the right hand side of your screen.
3. Scroll down and check the box next to Protect my Tweets
4. Save your changes

When you navigate to your home page after protecting your profile, you'll see a notice reminding you that your profile is now protected. Protected accounts can always go public by un-checking the box in account settings.

How To Change Language Settings

What language do you speak? Your Twitter profile would like to know! Twitter's website is live in many different languages. Changing your language preferences is easy and can be done at any time.

How to change your language settings:

1. Log in and go to the Settings page from the dropdown menu at the top right of your Twitter homepage.
2. Choose your language from the "Language" drop-down menu on your Account Settings menu.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save
4. Enter your password when prompted and click Save Changes to complete.

About Account Restoration

We currently don't allow users to restore their own deactivated accounts. Here is what all users see before deactivation:

When can I use the email address/username from my deactivated account?

• The username and email address on deactivated accounts is unavailable for use by another account for 30 days after deactivation. Once this 30 day period has passed, all information associated with the account will be permanently removed from Twitter and the email and username will be free for use by another account.

My account was deactivated in error!

• While there is currently no way to restore your account yourself, you are not completely out of luck. If your account was accidentally deactivated (by yourself or someone you know), please let us know by selecting the Restore my deleted account option on the following page: http://support.twitter.com/forms/general

How To Deactivate Your Account

Deactivating your account permanently removes your profile and information from Twitter. Deactivated profiles will take 30 days to clear from our internal systems. While the deactivation is being completed, usernames or email addresses cannot be used in the creation of a new account. Before you do it, you should know...

• This is final and permanent.
• You do not need to deactivate your account to change your username; change it easily and at any time in your account settings.
• Unless you change your username and email before deactivation, you will not be able to use them on a new account for 30 days.
• Account restoration is not available at this time.

To deactivate your account:

1. Log in to Twitter
2. Click Settings from the drop-down menu at the top right of your Twitter account.
3. Click 'deactivate my account' at the bottom of the page (shown below).
4. Enter your password when prompted.
5. Verify that you really want to do it and voila, it's done.

To free up your username or email address before deactivating your account:

1. Go to your Settings page from the drop-down menu at the top right of your Twitter account.
2. In the username field, choose a new username (Try adding an underscore or a number to it).
3. In the email address field, change your email address to a new address you also own.
4. Confirm the new email address via a link we send to you (very important!).
5. Proceed with deactivation as listed above. Your email and username will now be free to use on a new account should you choose to sign up again during the 30 day deactivation period.

Note: we change your settings immediately, and any/all old links appearing in a Google or other search index thus lead to error pages. However, these old links appear because Google and other search engines have cached old content in their search index. Twitter has no control over this, but you can send them a request to take it down.

How To Change Your Username

How to change your username (or real name):

Changing your name(s) is easy! Visit your Twitter account settings to change either your real name and/or username.

1. Log in to Twitter
2. From the upper right hand drop-down menu, click Settings
3. Change the name listed in your username field on the first page you see there.
4. To change your real name, go to the Profile tab of these settings, and type in a new name.
5. Save your changes.

NOTE: Changing your username will not affect your existing followers, direct messages, or @replies. They will simply see a new username next to your picture when you update. It is advisable to send out an update to your followers before you change your username, because any replies or messages sent to your old username will not be associated with your account once you've changed to your new username.

What's the difference between your real name and your user name?

• Your username appears in your profile URL and is unique to you. Usernames are used for login, @replies, direct messaging, and more. Your username appears alongside your profile image in friends' timelines each time you update, and we also include it in all outgoing text messages.
• Your real name is your full name, displayed in your profile page and used to identify you to friends. This can be helpful if your username is something mysterious, such as @neongolden, or @meangrape. Some people choose to put something other than a name in that field, such as their company or business name.

How long can real names and usernames be?

• Your username can contain up to 15 characters. Why no more? Because we append your username to your 140 characters on outgoing SMS updates and IM messages. If your name is longer than 15 characters, your message would be too long to send in a single text message.
• Your real name can be 20 characters long. Although your username may contain only 15 characters, many real names exceed 15 characters. Since we rarely send real name info via text message (except when using the WHO IS command) we added extra characters for folks (like Konstantin Gredeskoul) with longer names. Real names are also used in follow notification and request emails to help accurately identify folks with user names like cupcake25.
• Earlybirds: Early users of Twitter may have a username or real name longer than user names we currently allow. This is ok until you need to save changes to your account settings. No changes will save unless your user/real name is the appropriate length; this means you have to change your real name/username to meet our most modern regulations.

How To Change Your Email Preferences

• Email notifications help you stay up to date with your Twitter account so you can find out what's happening and what's relevant to you even when you are not actively checking Twitter
• You can opt out of receiving these notifications at any time

How do I change my email preferences?

You can change your email preferences in the notifications section of your settings page. You can set your email preferences to to let you know when:

• You have a new direct message
• You are sent a reply to one of your Tweets or are mentioned in a Tweet
• You are followed by someone new
• Someone retweets or favorites one of your Tweets
• We send out a newsletter or update on Twitter
• We send specific updates related to your account such as reminders or suggestions

We strive to send emails when they are most applicable to you. For example, if someone you follow retweets your Tweet or someone you mention replies to your Tweet we may send you an email. You will not necessarily receive an email for every retweet, reply, or favorite; for now we will only email you when we think it is most relevant. Note that every email contains a link to unsubscribe from that particular type of notification.

To change your email preferences:

1. Log in to Twitter
2. Click Settings
3. Click Notifications
4. Check/un-check the notification boxes to reflect your email preferences
5. Save your changes

I'm Not Receiving Emails from Twitter (Known Issue)

Not receiving email? Getting the "email inactive" notification?

Some users have reported issues receiving certain emails, whether its follower notifications, password resets, email confirmations or others.
If you have not been receiving an email or have that notification on your account, please let us know which emails you aren't receiving and what your domain is in the comments below.

Account inaccessible?

If you are unable to log into your account and are unable to receive a password reset email, please submit a help request here with the following information:

(please be sure to select 'Password or login problems' from the 'Regarding' drop-down menu)

• Your username
• The email address associated with your account
• The phone number associated with your account

If you are unable to access our web submission form, you will be redirected to a Twitter login page. If you are unable to login, please click the link in the lower-right corner of the page (it says "No account? Can't login?"). This will enable you to email the Support team directly. (In the "Email" field, be sure to type the address associated with your account.) In the subject line of the email, please write 'Password issues - Cannot log into my account', and include the information listed above.

My Netlog 24 logo is blinking

A blinking Netlog 24 icon indicates that the tool is connecting to the Internet. You can check this in the login screen. It might happen when your or Netlog's connection is lost. Once the connection is reestablished, Netlog 24 reconnects automatically. During this time, the icon is blinking. As soon as the connection is reestablished the blinking stops.

I Don't Have Access to My Account's Email Address Anymore

Locked out? Twitter protects your account by limiting log in attempts. If you're locked out, wait an hour and try again.

If you've lost access to the email address that's linked to your Twitter account, please contact your email service provider to work to regain access.

How To Change or Recover Your Password

Send yourself a password reset by following these steps:

1. Click the "Forgot your password?" link underneath the "Sign in" box on our logged-out homepage, as shown below.
2. You'll land on this page: https://twitter.com/account/resend_password
3. Enter your Twitter username or your email address.
4. If you have a phone number attached to your account, you will be asked to enter your phone number too. Enter it in the format suggested.
5. Check your email inbox for the email address attached to your account. Twitter will send you a message right away.
6. Click the reset link in that email, and choose a new password. You'll then be directed to your homepage.
7. Choose a strong password, ideally with letters, numbers, and symbols. Keep your Twitter account secure by choosing strong passwords that no one would guess.

How to Change Your Password:

All account information is editable in your Twitter account settings, and you can make changes to your password in the password tab.

1. Log in to Twitter
2. In the upper right hand top navigation bar, click Settings
3. Click the second tab, "Password"
4. Enter your current password
5. Choose and verify your new password
6. Save your changes by clicking "Change"

If you're able to log in but still can't remember the password, you can send yourself a password reminder from the password settings page as well. You'll get an email as described above.

How To Customize Your Twitter Design

Like what you see when you log in to Twitter? Great, then you don't need to read this article! For those who may prefer a more personal look and feel when browsing the site, we've given you the option to customize your profile. When you design your profile page, everything you see on Twitter will be set in the theme you have chosen. Not only are you making yourself unique to those viewing your profile, you are creating a customized experience for yourself on Twitter.

To customize your design:

1. Log in to www.twitter.com
2. In the top navigation bar, click Settings (or go to http://twitter.com/account/settings)
3. Click the furthest tab on the right, labeled Design
4. Select a template by clicking on it, or upload your own background image by clicking "Change background image." (figure 1)
5. Save your changes when done
6. If you want to customize the sidebar and font colors of your page, click "Change design colors"
7. Click any of the boxes to change your colors; click Done when you're finished. (figure 2)

Note: Background images must be in PNG, GIF, or JPG format, smaller than 800k. If your image's file size is too large, the easiest way to get it down is to use and image editing program or web app to shrink the image.

How To Change Your Profile Picture

How To Change Your Profile Picture or Information

Twitter is more fun when you customize your profile. You can change your image in the "Profile" tab on the fifth tab of your account settings. Your image should be no less than 48k and can be up to 700k in the following formats: JPG, GIF, PNG. (Twitter no longer supports animated GIFs.)

How to change your picture:

1. Log in to www.twitter.com
2. Click Settings.
3. Click on Profile on the fifth tab of your navigation bar.
4. Click on Change Image along with the profile picture.
5. You'll see the Choose File button. Click this button to choose which file to load.
6. After selecting the file, click Save at the bottom of the page. (See image below).Note: The thumbnail image chosen will only appear when you click "Save."

Updating your name, bio, and location info

To change the location, website, picture, or bio listed on your profile, follow these steps:

1. Visit the 'Profile' tab under Settings
2. Make the desired changes
3. Be sure to click 'Save'!

How To Change Your Email Address

Log in to www.twitter.com and click on your account settings page.
    Under the "Account" tab, you'll see your real name, username, and email address. Type your new email address into the correct field. (figure 1)
    When you have entered your new email address in the email field, click 'Save' at the bottom of the page.
    A dialog box will then appear asking you to confirm your Twitter password. Enter your password in the box and click the 'Save changes' button.
    You'll see a yellow box asking you to confirm your email change. It will stay there until you complete the steps below. (figure 2)

Then, confirm your change (required):

    Now, log in to your new email's inbox. You should see a new message from Twitter. Open it.
    Click on the confirmation link in that email.
    You should then be directed to your Twitter account. Your change is now complete!

Warning: If you do not complete the confirmation process above, your email will not be changed.

Twitter never shares your email address with third parties. Friends using the contact import feature to find email contacts may locate your profile if you are one of their contacts, but your email address will never be revealed.

Avatar

Bio

A short personal description used to define who you are on Twitter. Read about how to change your bio.

Blocking

To block someone on Twitter means they will be unable to follow you or add you to their lists, and we will not deliver their mentions to your mentions tab. Find out how to block others.

Direct Message

Geolocation / Geotagging

GFF (Get Followers Fast)

Sites that promise to get you more followers if you provide your username and password. After signing up, these sites send spam from your account. Don't use them.

Goodies

A tab at the bottom of your Twitter homepage containing links to widgets, buttons, and other nifty third-party website integration tools. http://twitter.com/goodies

Hacked

See Hacking.

Hacking

Gaining unauthorized access to an account via phishing, password guessing, or session stealing. Usually this is followed by unauthorized posts from the account. Handle

A user's "Twitter handle" is the username they have selected and the accompanying URL, like so: http://twitter.com/username. Find out how to change your username.

Hashtag

The # symbol is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. Was created organically by Twitter users. Read more about hashtags.

Help Ticket

Home Timeline

A real-time list of Tweets from those you follow. Appears on your Twitter home page. Find out more about your timeline.

Hovercards

Impersonation

Listed

Log In

Mention

Mobile Web

OAuth

A method to allow a user to grant a 3rd party access to their account without giving up their password. Find out how to safely connect to third party applications.

OH

"OH" most often means "Overheard" in Tweets. Used as a way to quote funny things people overhear.

Over Capacity Page

Users sometimes refer to this page as the "Fail Whale" page. The "Twitter is over capacity" message and a whale image shows up when our site is having trouble keeping up with traffic. Find out more about Twitter's error messages.

Parody

To spoof or to make fun of something in jest. Twitter users are allowed to create parody Twitter accounts, as well as commentary and fan accounts. Read our parody guidelines.

Phishing

Tricking a user to give up their username and password. This can happen by sending the user to fake login page, a page promising to get you more followers, or just simply asking for the username and password via a DM or email. Click here if your account has been phished.

Profile

A Twitter page displaying information about a user, as well as all the Tweets they have posted from their account. Learn how to change your profile information.

Promoted Tweets

RSS Feed

Most commonly expanded as Really Simple Syndication. A family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries or news headlines—in a standardized format.

RT

Screencast

A digital recording (video) of a computer screen's output.

Screenshot

Search (Integrated Search)

Short Code

Κάνοντας αυτό, δεν θα εμφανίζονται στον τοίχο αναρτήσεις απο τους φίλους σας ή την επίσημη σελίδα, αλλά και δεν θα μπορούν να σας στείλουν και τίποτα που να αφορά την σελίδα αυτή (το όνομά σας δεν θα φαίνεται για να μην μπορούν να σας επιλέξουν !)

Αν τους έχετε δώσει πρόσβαση ήδη, δηλαδή έστω και μία φορά δεχτήκατε κάτι απο τους φίλους σας ή στείλατε σε αυτούς, θα πρέπει πρώτα να πάτε να τις διαγράψετε κσι μετά να τις μπλοκάρετε.

Για να δείτε αν τους έχετε δώσει πρόσβαση πολύ εύκολα, πηγαίντε στην αρχική σελίδα κάτω απο την φωτογραφία σας αριστερά (όπως δείχνει η φωτογραφία)

 και έτσι εμφανίζετεαι ολόκληρη η λίστα εφαρμογών


εάν βρίσκεται στη λίστα αυτή που θέλετε να αποκλείσετε πηγαίντε πάνω δεξιά στον λογαριασμό πατήστε και θα βγεί το κάθετο μενού του,

εσείς επιλέξτε Ρυθμίσεις Ασγαλείας και θα μεταφερθείτε στην παρακάτω εικόνα


Επιλέξτε εφαρμογές και σελίδες


θα δείτε την λίστα

πατάτε το

πηγαίντε σε εκείνη που σας ενδιαφέρει να απομακρύνετε


και πατήστε το x που βρίσκεται στα δεξιά της στο τέλος για να προβείτε στην κατάργησή της

επιβεβαιώστε πατώντας αφαίρεση !


Τώρα πηγαίντε ατα αιτήματά σας στην εφαρμογή που αφαιρέσατε

Στην συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση εγώ αφαίρεσα το City of Wander (παιχνίδι), οπότε όπως δείχνει η εικόνα κάνετε δεξί κλίκ πάνω στο City of Wοnder (με μπλε χρώμα γιατί είναι σύνδεσμος)

και επιλέξτε άνοιγμα σε νέα καρτέλλα, έτσι ανοίγετε την επίσημη σελίδα της εφαρμογής (fan page)
όπου κάτω απο την τα στοιχεία της σελίδας αριστερά θα βρείτε τις επιλογές σας όπως δείχνει η εικόνα, και επιλέξτε Αποκλεισμό Εφαρμογής

Επιβεβαιώστε τον αποκλεισμό στο παράθυρο που θα ανοίξει

και τελειώσατε.

Ότι κάναμε είναι τελείως αναστρέψιμο και αναπάσα στιγμή αλλάξατε γνώμη, μπορείτε να την ξεμπλοκάρετε και να την χρησιμοποιήσετε ! Για το πώς δείτε σχετική ανάρτηση εδώ !

Αν την εφαρμογή δεν την έχετε χρησιμοποιήσει ποτέ, τότε δείτε εδώ πώς να την μπλοκάρετε !

Επαλήθευση Ηλεκτρονικού Ταχυδρομείου

Στις περισσότερες σελίδες, κοινωνικά δίκτυα, δημόσιες συζητήσεις χρειάζεται να κάνετε εγγραφή ή αλλιώς να δημιουργήσετε ένα λογαριασμό ή ένα προφίλ. Αυτό οπότε θα το συναντάτε συχνά !

Όταν λοιπόν κάνετε μια εγγραφή, για να ολοκληρωθεί η εγγραφή, πρέπει να επαληθεύσετε το email σας. Τί σημαίνει αυτό ? Αυτό σημαίνει ότι η υπηρεσία ή σελίδα που κάνατε την εγγραφή, έχει στείλε ένα μήνυμα στην δική σας ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση που της δηλώσατε κατά την διαδικασία καταχώρησης στοιχείων, άρα

1. πρέπει να συνδεθείτε με τον λογαριασμός σας εκείνο, εάν δεν το έχετε κάνει ήδη
2. θα πρέπει να πάτε να δείτε πού το έχετε λάβει (εισερχόμενα ή ανεπιθύμητα) να το ανοίξετε και να πάτε να πατήσετε τον σύνδεμο (λίνκ) για να γίνει η επαλήθευση (ότι δηλαδή η διεύθυνση που δώσατε είναι αληθινή και βέβαια ενεργός).

Εάν ο σύνδεσμος δεν είναι ενεργός και δεν μπορείτε να τον ανοίξετε, μπλοκάρετε (μαρκάρετε απο το πρώτο γράμμα πατάτε το αριστερό πλήκτρο του ποντικιού και κρατώντας το κουμπί πατημένο το τραβάτε μέχρι και το τελευταίο γράμμα, όπου και το ελευθερώνετε. Τώρα πατήστε πάνω του, κάντε αντιγραφή, ανοίξτε μια νέα καρτέλλα στον περιηγητή σας, επικολλήστε την διεύθυνση στην μπάρα διευθύνσεων και πατήστε enter.

Μετά την εγγραφή, αν μπείτε και δεν δείτε σε κανένα φάκελλο το μήνυμα, δώστε 3 λεπτάκια χρόνο μήπως και καθυστέρησε, πατήστε ανανέωση σελίδας και ελέξτε ξανά !!

Αυτό είναι όλο !!

Ορίστε εύκολα τι περιθώριο θέλετε να έχετε γύρω απο την φωτογραφία που αναρτήετε, τον πίνακα, το κουτί σας, το μπάνερ σας ή άλλα, όταν αυτά βρίσκονται μέσα σε ένα κωδικό !

Αναζητήτε την λέξη border ή border style και πάτε και αλλάζετε την τιμή του σε ότι θέλετε εσείς.

Η τιμή του εμφανίζεται έτσι 2px, 1px, 3px, 4px, 5px, 0px κ.τ.λ.

Τώρα αν μέσα στον κωδικό που έχετε δεν βρήτε την λέξη border πηγαίντε να την προσθέσετε μόνοι σας κατα αυτόν τον τρόπο :

border:4px,

ή


border-style:4px,

ή

border="4"


και αποθηκεύετε τον κωδικό σας !! Είστε έτοιμοι !

Επιβεβαιώστε τον αποκλεισμό στο παράθυρο που θα ανοίξει


και τελειώσατε.
